THE BIBLE, THE BOOK OF BOOKS---BYRL BROCKMAN

| | Comments (0)

THE BIBLE, "THE BOOK OF BOOKS"

The title '"The Book of Books", can be described as

"The Bible" observed from two view points. Truly it is,

A book of books because it contains sixty six books.

The  Bible deals with two periods of time,

The Old Testament and the New Testament. The Old

Testament contains thirty- nine books that tell

of God's will for all those who lived from Adam until

Christ came into the world and became the foundation

of the New  Testament. The New Testament contains God's will

for man until Judgment Day.  It is clear that the Old

Testament fulfilled it's purpose and now, is a book of

               History,

The Bible is also the "Book of Books" because

It is THE only means by which man can come to know

God's will for man today. How wonderful it is that

mankind does not have to live in ignorance of our Great

God.  By searching the Scriptures, anyone can

come to Know God's plan of salvation for everyone.

"GROW SOMETHING YOURSELF WITH GOD'S HELP" DAVID BORDEN

"GROW SOMETHING YOURSELF WITH GOD'S HELP."

It's true that only God can make something grow.

You can prepare the soil, plant a seed,

Water it, and even pick the fruit when the

Season is right, But there is a miracle that

Happens somewhere in between--a miracle that

turns one cell into two and more. Everything

You eat is a miracle of life and growth somewhere

Down the line . When you eat something that

                 You've  had a hand in growing--something you've

Waited for, cared for, and worked hand in hand

With God for-- you're reminded of how very

Dependent you are on God for the most basic

                 Necessities of life.

So grow some herbs in your kitchen window.

Plant a fruit tree in your back yard. Join others

In gardening a neighborhood vegtable co-op..

Then, watch the miracle. Manna is the only

Food that appeared overnight. Every other food takes

Time to grow to maturity, whether it's a

Zucchini in the garden-- oe even a "hamburger

On the hoof." Watching and waiting for what you've

Planted helps you better appreciate what you

Pick up at the grocery store. Every item in the

Produce section, every loaf of bread  in the bakery

And every jar of pickles on the shelf is a team

Effort. The team captain is God, but countless

Others are involved in providing you with all the

Nutritious options you have to choose from day

To day. Allow your gratitude to grow right

              Along with your garden.

Once your own produce has reached the peak

Of perfection, celebrate your first bite. In the

Old Testament, the "first fruits" of every harvest

Were offered to God. You can do the same

By offering a heartfelt word of gratitude

for your God-given gift of fruit, vegetables, or

Herbs. It's only through God's grace that they are

Available at your table. That's why returning a

A word of "grace" to God at mealtime-- or any

Other time, for that matter--- is an appropraite

           Response.

Isn't it wonderful that we have a great God who  provides us

with these material blessings? But, he provided us with even greater

blessings when He gave His Son to die on the cross that

we might live in heaven with Him forever!

WE HAVE AN ANCHOR-- PRECILLA J. OWENS; WM. J. KIRKPATROCK

                                          WE HAVE AN ANCHOR

Will your anchor hold in the storms of life,

When the clouds unfold their wings of strife?

When the strong tides lift, and the cables strain,

Will your anchor drift, or firm remain?

Is it safely moored, 'twill the storm withstand,

                                  For 'tis well secured  by the Saviour's hand;

And the cables passed from  His heart to  mine,

Can defy the blast, thro' strength divine.

It will firmly hold in the straits of fear,

When the breakers have told the reef is near,

Though the tempest rave and the wild winds blow,

Not an angry wave shall our bark o'erflow

It will surely hold in the floods of death,

When the waters cold chill our latest breath,

On the rising tide it can never fail,

While our hopes abide within the veil.

When our eyes behold thro' the gathering night,

The city of gold, our habor bright,

We shall anchor fsast by the heavenly shopre,

With the storms all past for evermore.

We have an anchor that keeps the soul

Steasfast and sure while the billows roll,

Fastened to the Rock that cannot be moved,

Grounded firm and deep in the Saviour's love.

It is clear that we all need something to hold and support us every day we live.

What do you have to sustain you in times of trouble? We all need Jesus.

ANGRY WORDS, O LET THEM NEVER-- H.R. PALMER

| | Comments (0)

ANGRY WORDS O LET THEM NEVER

Angry words O let them never

             From the tongue unbridled slip;

May the heart's best impulse ever

Check them ere they soil the lip.

Love is much too pure and holy,

              Friendship is too sacred far,

        For a moments reckless  folly

              Thus to desolate and mar.

        Angry words are lightly spoken,

              Bitt'rest thoughts are rashly stirred,

Brightest links of life are broken,

              By a single angry word.

        "Love one another, thus saith the Savior;

Children obey the Father's blest command

Love one another thus saith the Saviour

It is the Father's blest command."

"May God help us to have a mind and self control

that will enable us to cease permitting angry words

flow out of our mouths."
