THE CHRISTIAN HAS LIMITED LIBERTY
THE CHRISTIAN HAS LIMITED LIBERTY
Some think they are at liberty to introduce anything into
God's worship, providing that God has not, in so many
words prohibited it. This is evidently a mistake. Such a plan
of prodeedure would open the floodgates for inumerable
innovations. On this principle every kind of food might be
brought into the Lord's Supper, and the offering of
animal sacrifices and the burning of insence might be added
to the worship. One must remember that law is inclu-
siive and exclusive, including the things commanded and
excluding all else. This principle is too well known to
need argument. Besides in religious matters, God alone
has the right to guide man , and when man undertakes
to add forms of service or worship not authorized by God's
law, he assumes perogatives which belong excxlusively
to God. He is presuming to to take the office of God, and one
who has proper reverance for God so regards him.
When God told Noah to build the ark he said to him,"See that you build it
according to the pattern I showed you." Man needs to understand that God's word
today gives us a pattern by which we direct the affairs of life pleasing to Him!
